Accessible visit

The Palacio de La Magdalena aims to offer services that can be used by as many people as possible, regardless of their age, circumstances and functional abilities. To this end, the building has been adapted by freeing it of obstacles and architectural barriers, continuously developing a series of actions to adapt the services, through specific support products, to those people who require them.

Physical accessibility

Access

The accesses to La Magdalena Palace are adapted for people with reduced mobility.

The entrance on the west side is accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs and any other element involving reduced mobility, as it is accessed by a ramp with a slope of 6% and a length of 10 metres, which has handrails, railings and an automatic door opening system.

As the Palace is located in a public park, people with reduced mobility can access the building by public transport, or in their own vehicle, by sending a request at least 48 hours in advance to the email: palaciomagdalena@santanderdestino.es

Circulation

The interior route, from the visitor reception area to the visitable rooms, is completely adapted for obstacle-free circulation by means of ramps and lifts.

Resources to support the visit

In order to promote full physical accessibility, the Palacio de La Magdalena provides visitors with different specific support elements:

  • Wheelchairs, upon request at the visitor service desks.
  • Folding seats in the permanent exhibition rooms, to facilitate occasional rest during the visit.

Sensory and cognitive accessibility

The Palacio de La Magdalena is working on the continuous improvement of actions aimed at favouring sensory and cognitive accessibility.

The adaptation of the environment to the criteria of sensory accessibility makes it possible for people with specific vision or hearing needs to visit under equal conditions. As for the adoption of measures to favour cognitive accessibility, it must be considered that they benefit all people with comprehension difficulties, either because they have an intellectual disability or because they do not master the language.

Access

Guide dogs and assistance dogs are admitted on presentation of the relevant documentation and provided that the animal is properly identified.

The Palacio de La Magdalena has an acoustic amplification system using magnetic induction loops for people with cochlear implants and/or users of hearing aids with the ‘T’ position.

The audio guide service can be used at no additional cost, including an induction loop compatible with the equipment.

Circulation

The lifts are equipped with Braille button panels and sound recording indicating floors and door opening and closing.

The -1 floor access has an accessible information lectern in Braille that allows for better spatial orientation for the visually impaired.

Resources to support the visit

The visitor service desk has information supports with a QR code that allows the download of a selection of contents and relevant pieces, adapted to different formats to favour their accessibility to different functional capacities:

  • Audioguides with high-contrast keyboard and audio description in Spanish for the visually impaired.
  • Videos in Sign Language (LSE) for the hearing impaired.
  • Texts in Easy Reading to favour cognitive accessibility. In this case, a paper guide is also available, which can be requested on request at the visitor service desks.
